In the midst of the Scottsdale desert lives Frank Lloyd Wright’s Taliesin West. On the property are tiny homes built by those who attended the Architecture School at Taliesin West, including a cottage designed and built by FLW’s mentee, Ling Po. Po was a protege of FLW and is known best for his immaculate rendering skills.

The structure had fallen into a state that required restoration. I was a part of a 10-student team that was selected through an application process. We were lead by 2 carpenters with extensive experience in historic restoration, worked together to restore the cottage over a 2-week externship. Our time there also included tours of other local FLW homes and structures and notable buildings, such as the Phoenix Public Library. The evenings were filled with lectures from ASaTW alumni and exploring behind the scenes at Taliesin West. It was a memorable experience that forever changed me.
